5.4.4 Behavioral techniques related to specific symptoms

Severe symptoms related to coping modes should usually be treated on the behavioral level using the usual symptom-related or symptom-specific CBT techniques. For example, binge-eating attacks can be part of a detached protector or a detached self-soothing mode. In some cases, severe symptoms decrease with emotion-focused interventions aimed at the vulnerable child mode, but in many cases we also need behavioral interventions. Note that behavioral symptom-related techniques can be related to the mode model, just like emotion-focused and cognitive techniques.
